The reception prior to the reading has been moved to the Lipinsky auditorium lobby.
Meet New York Times bestselling author and UNC Asheville alumnus Wiley Cash '00 at an exclusive reception for UNC Asheville alumni, parents and friends. Cash will be on campus to celebrate the release of his new novel, The Last Ballad, on Tuesday, October 3. A suggested $10 donation to scholarships gets you into the reception and reserved seating in the front rows. Light snacks and refreshments will be served.
After our reception, Cash will take the stage in Lipinsky Auditorium at 7 p.m., where author Charles Frazier will conduct an on-stage interview with Cash about his new novel. There will also be a musical performance by singer-songwriter Shannon Whitworth. The book release portion of the event held in Lipinsky is free and open to the public.
We'd love for you to join us on campus to mix and mingle with Wiley, connect with other alumni and share memories of your time at UNCA and your successes today.
Set in the Appalachian foothills of North Carolina in 1929 and inspired by actual events, The Last Ballad is a chronicle of a single mother's struggle for her rights in a textile mill. Lyrical and heartbreaking, the story is a moving tale of courage in the face of oppression. For more information on the book tour and additional dates, visit alumni.unca.edu/wileycashtour.
